Interview: BBC Newsnight with Odd Future

What goes together better than old British folks and Odd Future? Well it look’s like just about everything. OF just wrapped up their international tour yesterday, but first took time to sit down with the Brits over at BBC’s Newsnight for a quick look into their stay in London. The special focuses primarily on their pop up shop strategy, with a slew of poor jokes peppered in (“are there any washing instructions in here,” anyone?).

It’s not terribly difficult to pick up BBC’s stance on the collective, as they make an effort to include interviews with some seemingly pretty unintelligent kids waiting to get into the pop up shop. In some regards, the OF members only help contribute to this image BBC is trying to portray, as Left Brain’s dumb ass goes as far as saying on camera that they don’t pay taxes on the merchandise they sell (which Clancy so happily has to clear up after that).

A definite highlight from the interview comes at the 3:25 mark when Tyler is asked, “what about your lyrics, what are you saying in your lyrics?” and replies so eloquently with, “nothing, shit to piss old white people off like you.” I’ve seen a fair share of Tyler interviews, and I’ve realized that if there is one thing he hates, its when reporters ask the same old interview questions; seeing that a conservative 9 out of every 10 interviewers ask him to speak on his lyrics, which he has explained countless times, I can understand the frustration. Throwing out an answer like that on BBC is still hilarious though.

Oh and 100 pounds for one of those OF tie dye shirts? Hellll nawwww

Music Video: Oldie – Odd Future

What’s good errrrybody, in case you forgot, today marked the drop of The OF Tape, Vol 2. and as a quick little promo, the OF group threw together a video for their 10 minute posse cut from the album, “Oldie.” To begin with, I’m a sucker for posse cuts; no hook, no chorus, just everyone getting in their two cents. Adding a video to it is dope. Things like this are what keep me interested in OF, I don’t understand how people can watch things like this and not be a fan. They’re just a bunch of kids doing whatever they want and having fun in the process…. if that’s not what you strive for as a college kid, I guess you’re not like me.

The Odd Future crew has came a ways since releasing free tapes, so this one is going to cost you 15 bills, but it’s 18 tracks and you get a bit of everything as everyone from Tyler to Earl to Syd’s The Internet to Frankie Ocean shows up. I spent the money and if you want to also hit the link…………………………… here. Golf Wang.

Mixtape: Under The Influence – Domo Genesis

September 28, 2011 |  by  |  Uncategorized  |  , ,  |  No Comments

Here’s a little something I’ve been meaning to post for about a week now. Odd Future’s Domo Genesis released his latest project in the form of this tape. If you know anything about Domo, you know he is one of OF’s resident stoners, and his music usually reflects it. Relaxed beats and lyrics riddled with bud references are protocol, and you’ll be sure to find plenty of that on this tape. However, I really think Domo stepped up his lyrical game for this one. I’ve definitely been enjoying it for the past few days and I recommend you all do the same and hit that download link.

Song: Glory (redux) – Domo Genesis

August 16, 2011 |  by  |  Uncategorized  |  ,  |  No Comments

Got these white girls everywhere screaming, “Domo rocks!” / Put it down beautiful, 360 tomahawks / Every ni** say he sick, I think it’s just a common cough / That shit give me a headache and rippin’ beats is my Tylenol

Odd Future’s Domo drops another track with that strong wake-n-bake vibe due to a nice, but minimal, beat. This is something he’s already been known for (see Rolling Papers, and no, not Wiz’s version. Domo released an LP by the same title 7 months before Mr. Khalifa). Anyways, it sounds like this one should be appearing on a new project from Domo titled Under The Influence, but any real info on that is limited, to say the least. In the mean time, enjoy this track and check the download link below.
